Every Royal Canin dog food is on this page. Size ranges from X-Small to Giant; puppy, adult and senior formulas; breed-specific foods such as Poodle, Maltese, French Bulldog and Golden Retriever; a care range for sterilized, picky and sensitive-skinned dogs; wet food and canned food. The guide below helps you choose the right food.

How to Choose Royal Canin Dog Food

Royal Canin dog foods are organized around three questions. How much will your dog weigh as an adult? How old are they? Do they have a specific breed or a special need?

First, pick the size range. Then choose the life stage. If your dog is purebred, look at the breed-specific foods; if they have a sensitivity, look at the care range. Follow this order and your options narrow down quickly.

Size Ranges: From X-Small to Giant

Royal Canin's core dog range is split into five groups by adult weight. Small breeds burn more energy relative to their weight. Large breeds' joints carry more load, and they take longer to grow. In each range, kibble size and formula are adjusted for these differences.

Range Adult weight Bag sizes at Petidi
X-Small Up to 4 kg 1.5 kg, 3 kg
Mini 4–10 kg 2 kg, 4 kg, 8 kg
Medium 11–25 kg 4 kg, 15 kg
Maxi 26–44 kg 15 kg
Giant Over 45 kg 15 kg

If your dog falls between two ranges, go by their adult weight, not their current weight. For mixed-breed puppies, you can ask your veterinarian about their expected adult weight.

For Puppies, Adults and Senior Dogs

Mother and newborn puppies (Starter)

Starter formulas are for mothers in late pregnancy and nursing, and for puppies being weaned. At Petidi, you'll find Mini Starter dry food and Starter Mousse canned food. If the mother's milk isn't enough, Babydog Milk puppy milk replacer can be used.

Puppy food (Puppy / Junior)

Puppy formulas contain more concentrated energy and nutrients for the growth stage. How long to feed puppy food depends on size:

  • X-Small and Mini Puppy: Up to 10 months
  • Medium Puppy: Up to 12 months
  • Maxi Puppy: Up to 15 months
  • Giant Junior: From 8 months to 18–24 months

Large breeds grow slowly and for a long time, so it's important not to switch to adult food too early.

Adult dog food (Adult)

Once growth is complete, switch to the Adult formula in the same range. The goal is to maintain a healthy weight. Make the switch over 7–10 days, mixing a little more of the new food into the old each day.

Senior dog food (8+ and 12+)

Small breeds live longer, and their senior years start later. Mini 8+ is for small breeds over 8, and X-Small Ageing 12+ is for extra-small breeds over 12.

Royal Canin Breed-Specific Foods

This is the range that sets Royal Canin apart from other brands. In breed foods, the kibble shape and size are designed for that breed's jaw and mouth. The formula is also adjusted for the breed's known needs. Breed foods available at Petidi:

  • Small breeds: Poodle, Maltese, Yorkshire Terrier, Chihuahua, Shih Tzu, Pomeranian, Pug, Cavalier King Charles
  • Medium breeds: French Bulldog, Cocker Spaniel
  • Large breeds: Golden Retriever, Labrador Retriever, German Shepherd

Most small breeds have both a puppy and an adult formula. Our detailed guides to feeding and caring for your breed (in Turkish): Poodle, Chihuahua, Pomeranian, Pug, Golden Retriever, Labrador and German Shepherd.

Care Range for Special Needs

For cases where a breed or size food isn't enough, Royal Canin makes separate formulas:

  • Spayed/neutered: Mini Sterilised. Energy needs drop after spaying or neutering; this formula helps prevent weight gain.
  • Weight control: Light Weight Care Mini. For small breeds prone to weight gain.
  • Skin and coat sensitivity: Dermacomfort. Available in Mini, Medium and Maxi sizes.
  • Picky dogs: Exigent Mini. For small breeds that turn their nose up at food or have a poor appetite.
  • Indoor dogs: Mini Indoor. For small breeds that live indoors and move less.

These formulas are not therapeutic. If your dog has constant itching, diarrhea or weight loss, ask your veterinarian first.

Royal Canin Wet Food and Canned Food

Wet food adds flavor and water to dry food. It's especially useful for dogs that drink little water or have a poor appetite.

  • Gravy (in sauce), 140 g: Puppy and adult formulas in the Medium and Maxi sizes
  • Pouch, 85 g: Mini Adult, Mini Puppy, Mini Ageing, Exigent, Dermacomfort, sterilized dogs and breed foods
  • Loaf and Mousse (pâté) cans: Mini 195 g, Medium and Maxi 410 g

When feeding with dry food, balance the total amount. If you don't cut back on dry food by as much as the wet food you add, your dog will gain weight.

How Much Royal Canin Should I Feed Each Day?

The daily amount depends on adult weight, age and activity level. Every bag has a feeding table by weight on the back; use it as your starting point. Then weigh your dog every two weeks and adjust the amount.

Royal Canin Dog Food - Frequently Asked Questions

Which Royal Canin dog food size should I choose?
Choose based on the weight your dog will reach as an adult: X-Small up to 4 kg, Mini 4–10 kg, Medium 11–25 kg, Maxi 26–44 kg and Giant over 45 kg. Go by adult weight, not current weight.
What's the difference between Royal Canin Mini and X-Small?
X-Small is for extra-small breeds that won't exceed 4 kg as adults (such as the Chihuahua and Yorkshire), and its kibble is smaller. Mini is for small breeds of 4–10 kg. If your dog falls between the two ranges, decide based on their adult weight.
When does a puppy switch to adult Royal Canin food?
It depends on size: X-Small and Mini Puppy are fed until 10 months, Medium Puppy until 12 months and Maxi Puppy until 15 months. Giant breeds switch to Giant Junior after 8 months, which continues until 18–24 months. Make the switch over 7–10 days, mixing the foods.
Are breed-specific Royal Canin foods different from regular food?
Yes. In breed foods, the kibble shape and size are designed for the breed's jaw and mouth, and the formula is adjusted for the breed's known needs. At Petidi, you'll find foods for the Poodle, Maltese, Yorkshire, Chihuahua, Shih Tzu, Pomeranian, Pug, Cavalier, French Bulldog, Cocker, Golden Retriever, Labrador and German Shepherd. For mixed-breed dogs, the size ranges (Mini, Medium, Maxi) are a good fit.
Which Royal Canin food is right for my spayed or neutered dog?
There's a Mini Sterilised formula for small breeds. Light Weight Care Mini is also popular for small breeds prone to weight gain. Since energy needs drop after spaying or neutering, continuing to feed the same food in the same amount can lead to weight gain; weigh your dog regularly.
Which Royal Canin should I give a picky dog that won't eat?
For picky small breeds, there's Exigent Mini dry food and Exigent 85 g wet food. Adding a little wet food on top of dry food also boosts appetite. If the loss of appetite started suddenly or there is weight loss, ask your veterinarian first.
Can Royal Canin wet food be fed with dry food?
Yes, they can be fed together. Wet food adds flavor and water. But reduce the amount of dry food by as much wet food as you add; otherwise daily calories go up and your dog will gain weight.
How much Royal Canin dog food should I feed per day?
The amount depends on adult weight, age and activity level. Use the feeding table on the back of the bag as a starting point, then weigh your dog every two weeks and adjust. To work out grams by weight, see our guide "How many grams of food should a dog eat a day" (in Turkish) in the Pet Care Center.
